What happened: Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, a motion-controlled sports game, went on sale on October 22. It runs only on the Nintendo Switch 2.

What this means for you: If your family owns a Switch 2, this game is made for group play in the living room. It costs $49.99 digital or $59.99 physical on Nintendo's US store (price as of ; official source). Each player needs a controller, and extra ones are sold separately.

The details

You move the Joy-Con 2 controllers to swing, aim, bowl and steer, and new sports include thumb wrestling. Up to four people can play most sports on one console. Online play needs a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo says it plays on the TV or in tabletop mode (the screen standing on its kickstand), not handheld. See Nintendo's physical edition page for current pricing, and Nintendo UK for player counts by sport.
